Building Rapport with Your Audience - Blogging

Why is building rapport with your readers so important?

  • It helps the reader understand what is being said. Put yourself in your readers shoes, would you sit and listen to someone you thought a braggart, a racist, a preacher?  No! You'd probably get up and leave, unless, you yourself were a braggart, a racist or a preacher.  Having something in common is rapport.
  • It helps the story teller communicate the story better. Try telling a serious story to a bunch of hyperactive children, you'd have to build rapport with them first to calm them down, It's good to know your audience, first.

Does your writing communicate your ideas, well too others? Do readers understand your feelings, your ideas, what you are saying or asking?

If you get comments, reshares, google+'s, people joining your site, then you've built rapport. People are engaging with you. An important step in building a successful blog.

  1. You've really hit on an important point here I think, Mike. It's hard work, but it's certainly worth it.
